Long human hair wigs have jumped into being quite popular in recent years, even though they were rare up until just a few years ago.

There are a few reasons why, but probably the main reason is the fact that they can now make wigs that don't look so "wiggy" anymore. Take long human hair wigs for example.

Thanks to new kinds of adhesives and caps, it would take a forensic scientist to figure out that you are wearing long human hair wigs unless you told someone yourself. These wigs look much more natural than older versions.

The fact that real human hair can be used for long human hair wigs only adds to the illusion that it is really your hair.

Long human hair wigs are among the most expensive kinds of wigs because of the amount of hair and work required to make them, but those who own them say the cost is well worth it.

Maintaining the beauty of a long wig takes a little more work than maintaining a short wig.

Long Wig

Women who own a long wig already know the problem associated with these wigs all too well. Tangles. For many wig owners it is almost a curse word.

But, if you own a long wig and you get tangles, there is hope for you. If you follow some of the following steps, your long wig can stay tangle-free.

  • Wear it up – If your long wig is being thrust to and fro with every movement of your neck, it is much more likely to tangle. You can avoid this by wearing your hair up. Short hair tangles less often.
  • Brush after wearing – You should brush your long wig after each wearing. This will help keep tangles from staying in place for long periods of time. If you allow them to do so, it could take much longer to brush the tangles out when you want to wear it again.
  • Get static guard – After a prolonged wearing, your long wig can begin to get a little frizzy. Frizz is bad because it can lead to tangles. An easy way to avoiding this is by using static guard on it between uses.

This isn't an all-inclusive list, but if you want fewer tangles in your long wig, following these steps should help.

Although long wigs are different from shorter ones in some ways, you should follow the same basic cleaning method for both kinds.

Long Wigs

If you have long wigs and shorter wigs, it can be a hassle to remember what to do with which kind. Although there are slight variances in how you clean long and short wigs, thankfully cleaning either follows pretty much the same steps.

So, then, how do you clean your long wigs? Just follow these steps.

  • After removing the wig, be sure to thoroughly brush it.
  • Add wig shampoo to a water basin and soak your long wigs for five minutes.
  • Gently swish the wig in the basin. Do not rub it.
  • Rinse your long wigs in cold water at least twice. Longer wigs will take longer to thoroughly rinse.
  • Apply a decent-sized amount of a wig conditioner into your long wigs and gently work it in with your finger tips.
  • Again, rinse thoroughly with cold water.
  • Drain your long wigs and blot with a towel. Do not squeeze or wring.
  • Allow it to air dry. Do not use a hairdryer.
  • Brush again your long wigs only after they are completely dry.

Following these steps will help you keep your long wigs looking nice for a longer period of time. It is important that you take special care with longer wigs because there is more opportunity for error.

For example, if you have a short wig, the time spent on cleaning is not as long, therefore you are less likely to make a critical mistake.

On the other hand, because it can take such a long time to clean long wigs, there is more opportunity for you to lose your focus and do something wrong.

If you need more help in caring for your long wigs, go to your nearest salon and ask a professional.

Long human hair wigs can be a challenge because of their prices and the maintenance. But using the following suggestions will make caring for long human hair wigs much easier. Learning which brands to look for can also help you find a quality long human hair wig at a decent price.

To take care of your long human hair wig, you must first try to look for products that are gentle and even ones that are specifically made for wigs. You can find these in stores that sell wigs or on the internet. After removing your wig, gently take the tangles out with either your fingers or a pick comb.

Next, add a small amount of shampoo for wigs to a sink and add cool water. Never use hot water as it destroys the wig. Soak it for 5 minutes and then rinse it in cool water. You will then dab it gently with a towel to get out excess water. While the wig is still wet, it is good to spray with a leave-in conditioner or a detangler as it will make the wig easier to style. On certain wigs, the style has been set with heat and will not wash out. Therefore, there is no need to re-set the piece after it is washed.

Beware: do NOT use blow dryers, straight irons, or curling irons if your wig is made of synthetic fibers. They will melt and your wig will be ruined. But if you have a long human hair wig, it is fine to style it with any type of styling instrument. You probably will not want to wash it everyday as this will destroy the wig faster. Once or twice a week should be plenty, but you will want to check with the manufacturer of the wig.
